Trackback Example
(Pardon the interuption. This post is used in my WorldWIT Blogging Teleseminar on June 29, 2005. If you’re not attending, you can safely ignore it.)
This post will demonstrate how trackbacks work. Here are the steps to posting a trackback.
- Below this post is a paragraph that says “You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.”
- Right-click “trackback” and select “Copy link location”
- Write a new post. Click here to launch the editor.
- Below the editing form, click the button labeled “Advanced Editing”
- Below the form, set the post status field to “Published”
- Below that, in the field labeled “Send trackbacks to:” paste the trackback url you copied previously
- Click the “Save” button
- Come back to this page “reload” button.
- Below you should now see a short excerpt that links from here to your post.

Thanks for the seminar. I’m about to set up a blog with my new website (will be online next week) on emotionsintheworkplace.com and this has been really helpful.
For a new blogger — is it better to use a hosted site, or put it on your own website?
